Making Guacamole With Avocado Powder: 2 Ways

One of the simplest things to do with your avocado powder is to make guacamole. It's a versatile and delicious dip. You can use it to dip tortilla chips or pita bread, or you can pile it on your tacos and burritos. There are many different styles of guacamole you can make, but here are two that are specifically worth trying.

Chunky Guacamole

Since this guacamole is made with avocado powder, the avocado base itself won't be chunky. However, you can leave the onions and tomato chunky, which gives the dip some texture. This recipe calls for a small amount of jalapeno peppers, too, as they add a nice layer of spice. You can use more or less jalapeno to adjust the spice to your taste. You'll need:

  • 1/4 cup avocado powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • a jalapeno pepper, seeds removed, chopped finely
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Combine the avocado powder, water, and lime juice. Let sit for 10 minutes or until the powder has fully absorbed the liquid. Stir in the other ingredients. Let rest at room temperature for another 15 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld.

Sweet and Spicy Guacamole

Made in a food processor, this guacamole has a smoother texture. You add both sweet and spicy ingredients to the avocado powder base, which gives it a lot of unique character. This is a good guacamole to enjoy on chips. Its flavor gets a bit lost on tacos and burritos, although it's still delicious. You'll need:

  • 1/4 cup avocado powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 habanero pepper, seeds removed
  • 1 tablespoon red onion, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • a dash of liquid smoke
  • a pinch of cumin

Place the avocado powder, water, and lime juice in the bowl of a food processor. Let sit for about 5 minutes. Add the other ingredients to the food processor, and pulse four or five times to chop up the pepper and onion. Scrape down the bowl, and process until smooth. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Making guacamole from avocado powder is easy! Use these recipes as a starting point, and then concoct your own. You're sure to come up with some delicious and versatile guacs that the whole family can enjoy.
